Cover: Lineage fate decision of embryonic stem cells likes a train going down from the ‘pluripotent’ mountain, through three germ layer differentiation hills, to specific derivatives. This time, passing the early germ layer stage, the train arrives at the mesodermal ‘FLK1 zone’, where the cell fate checkpoint is governed by IP3Rs-released Ca2+ to orchestrate the divergence of hematopoietic and cardiac destinations through the activation–selection of calcineurin–NFATc3–ETV2 pathway.
