Cover: Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) plays a critical role in adipocyte/cancer-associated adipocyte (CAA)–breast cancer interplay. Breast cancer cells are able to convert adipocytes into CAAs that exhibit altered gene transcription pattern. In particular, G-CSF, which is highly expressed and secreted by CAAs, activates Stat3 signaling in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. The G-CSF/Stat3 signaling then drives TNBC cell malignant progression by promoting epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and invasion. The background shows G-CSF expression in the breast cancer tissue obtained from human breast cancer patients by immunohistochemistry analysis. See pages 723–737 by Liu et al. for details.
