Cover: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) rages during the winter, when the humidity and temperature are both low. The cardiovascular system can be severely affected after SARS-CoV-2 infection. The expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in the cardiovascular system predisposes it to SARS-CoV-2. In addition, cytokine storm caused by the overloaded inflammatory factors, including interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-a), which are produced by the anti-virus response, may also contribute to the impairment of the cardiovascular system. See page 161–167 by Liu et al. for details.
