Cover: A model graph proposes the potential role of insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) in regulating fatty liver. Knockdown of IGF2 (by siRNA) increases ROS production whereas decreases SIRT1 expression, which then causes a reduction of PGC1a levels in hepatocytes. As a result, mitochondrial biogenesis and ATP production are significantly inhibited, while mitochondrial fission is promoted. All these defects contribute to mitochondrial dysfunction and ultimately lead to fatty liver and obesity. See pages 543–555 by Gui et al. for details.
