Cover: Proposed model illustrating how Klf5 maintains trophoblast stem cell (TSC) pluripotency. Klf5 recruits p300, analogous to the ‘Sun’ (孙) – ‘Liu’ (刘) coalition, to synergistically maintain the key pluripotency genes Eomes, Cdx2, and Sox2 in an open chromatin structure by H3K27ac. These activated pluripotency genes swiftly converge on the ‘Cao’ (曹) army, which comprises TSC differentiation-related genes Gcm1 and Krt18, and thus effectively impede TSC differentiation. See mjad045 by Dou et al. for details.
