Cover: Yuanbao chicken is a famous ancient Chinese ornamental chicken breed, which was treated as a symbol of wealth due to its miniature body morphology resembling the ‘Yuanbao’ currency in ancient China. Comparative population genomics reveals the genetic basis underlying the small body size of Yuanbao chicken, with important implications in understanding the evolution of body size under artificial selection.
